his first Major League game that night.
Here's the announcement.

Norfolk Tides.
Here are his
batting stats for this season.
Lastings Milledge was named the Mets
top minor league prospect in 2006 by Baseball America.

Lastings Milledge tore it up in spring training with the Mets.
He hit .347 and was still hanging with the big club at the end of
March. If the Mets won't play him, please trade him so we can
watch him every day in the major leagues. Unfortunately, the
Mets will send him back to AAA this season.
September 2005:
Named to USA World Cup Team
Sept. 2 - 17, 2005 in Amsterdam, Holland. You can

April 2005:
Assigned to A St. Lucie.
January 2005:
Mets acquired
center fielder Carlos Beltran with a seven year $119M contract.
Does this mean Lastings will be moved to right or left field in Shea
in late 2005 or 2006? Or does this signal a trade in the near
future for Milledge? Stay tuned.
Here's an article about the Beltran / Milledge topic...
April 2004:
Lastings Milledge assigned to the NY Mets A Ball Club -
Capital City Bombers in Columbia, SC. During the 2004 season

games this year.
June 2003:
Selected in the first round by the NY
Mets - 12th pick overall in the 2003 amateur draft June-regular phase.
One of the best athletes in the 2003
draft, Milledge led his Lakewood Ranch High School Club to the State Championship in
May 2003 with an exciting steal of home when his team was losing 4-1
in the 7th inning.
Called a Five Tools player - Lastings
has extraordinary speed, an excellent glove in the outfield, a very
strong and accurate arm, hits for power and hits for average.
It would seem Lastings is destined for
fame in center field - if not in Shea Stadium, then certainly for a
World Series contender.
