Big thanks to THIS PLACE MATTERS! Sure the stories of Sinatra sending guys with suitcases to ship “Hoboken Sticks” to Palm Springs are as crowd pleasing as the bread itself, but Antique Bakery-and 122 Willow- history runs even deeper through Hoboken than the roots of the chairman himself!
Check out their post for more pics! Come have a drink, and dig the stuff that matters! Like the oldest and biggest coal oven anywhere in the US (maybe the world) right here in Hoboken! .

The ANTIQUE BAR AND BAKERY at 122 Willow Ave. has seen many incarnations since the building was constructed ca. 1923. At the time of construction the Willow Ave trolley still ran along the route that the Willow St Horse trolley had run earlier. At the corner of Willow and Ferry Street the staircase to the elevated Jersey City train remained until 1949. Before 1923, a Mission of the 2nd Baptist Church, similar to the one around the corner on 2nd St (see photo) operated and later became the Mizpah Baptist Mission. In the 1942 WW2 flag-raising photos, an Italian and French Bakery was in operation. In 1987, Ivan Rodriquez created the Antique Bakery (See photo) utilizing the 400 sq ft oven. Since it’s relaunch in 2017, Chef PAUL GERARD has amazed his customers with his coal baked dishes and unique cocktails along with partners Joe, Bob, and Christine Castelo and Rocco Ancorola. #hobokennj #hudsoncountyhistory
