I would consider myself an outgoing introvert

I would consider myself an outgoing introvert. If I’ve gotten enough time to recharge and surround myself with people who don’t tend to drain me (which has taken time to figure out) I can really enjoy social situations. If, however, I am energetically depleted and surrounded by more people whose energy continues to deplete me, I have a really hard time with it. But sometimes we don’t get a choice of who we’re around and for how long—we still need to show up for things and move on with our lives so learning the most effective ways to recharge has been so helpful in managing my energy. •

The way in which one recharges their batteries is completely personal to them but the number one way I recharge is alone. I’ve known this about myself for a while but I used to think that in addition to being alone I had to be in bed, watching TV trying my best to relax and zone out but that’s not always what I need. Sometimes that can make me feel worse. Being energetically depleted doesn’t necessarily mean my body and mind are tired—it can just mean I need to take a break from things that drain me and do more things that fill me up. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes that does entail lying in bed watching TV😉 but it more often entails doing things I enjoy like being in the kitchen cooking, trying new recipes, taking a long walk, yoga/stretching, reading, cleaning, organizing, calling my mom, making a fun purchase etc. Basically, just taking time for myself in whatever way I want.
