George Clooney has sold his Casamigos


George Clooney has sold his Casamigos Tequila company for a cool 1 billion dollars. 

In a statement to CNBC, Clooney made it clear that while the billion dollar deal to Diageo takes the company out of his hands, Clooney will still very much have an active role in Casamigos; "If you asked us four years ago if we had a billion dollar company, I don't think we would have said yes," Clooney told CNBC via email. "This reflects Diageo's belief in our company and our belief in Diageo. But we're not going anywhere. We'll still be very much a part of Casamigos. Starting with a shot tonight. Maybe two."

George Clooney has expanded his empire past the silver screen, and with this massive investment from Diageo, his empire has grown larger still- the deal is expected to close in the latter half of 2017 with Diageo shelling out $700 Million initially with another $300 Million agreed upon based on the tequila's performance over 10 years time.
