Matthew Lillard Gutted He Isn't Playing Shaggy Again In Scoob. He's played the iconic role in both animated and live-action versions of Scooby-Doo Lillard - as most of you will know - has played the role of Shaggy in several live-action versions of the classic mystery cartoon, as well as taking over the animated role in 2009, too. Scoob! is the name of the latest effort, and there's some big names in there - Zac Efron as Fred, Amanda Seyfried as Daphne, and Gina Rodriguez as Velma - but no spot for the man who probably emerged from the live-action reboots the best. Instead, Will Forte will take the reins, with Frank Welker providing the vocal takes for Shaggy's best canine mate, the titular Scooby-Doo. Lillard opened up about his disappointment at not getting the gig in an interview with Entertainment Tonight!
