Spider-Man Homecoming swings into theaters


Spider-Man Homecoming swings into theaters with a worldwide gross of $257,015,000.

This iteration of Spider Man had the benefit of being introduced previously in Captain America: Civil War which perhaps helped some of the sour taste left after Sony's Spiderman renditions. Joined by Ironman, Spiderman was the king of the box office this weekend, yet failed to reach the expected $120+ domestic box office sales coming in at $117,015,000.

This is one of the biggest openings for Spiderman, coming in second only to Spiderman 3 ($151M domestic)- in fact Homecoming beat out Ironman and Gaurdian's opening weekends, making it the most successful opening of a hero's arc in recent history. Whether the wall-crawler will continue to swing by records is yet to be seen, but if Marvel continues to include its robust lineup it seems like a pretty safe bet.
