“But it’s January 1st!”
Let me explain.
A couple years ago, if I would have gone over on my macros, I’d spend the next day in the gym trying to undo the “damage” I made.
I’d feel guilty for what I ate.
I thought to continue to lose the weight I was losing, I couldn’t have foods I loved or I couldn’t ever blow my macros.
Last night, we decided last minute to go have Mexican.
I ate chips and queso, a chimichanga, rice, and had a big margarita.
Old me would have gone to the gym this morning and did a bunch of cardio to “burn it off.”
But that’s not how it works.
One meal/day of enjoying myself isn’t going to undo all my habits I commit to 90% of the time.
And I’m not going to store it all as fat today because I’m not exercising.
We gain and lose fat over time.
Not in single instances.
So today, I’m resting after a large high calorie meal last night.
And guess what?
It’s not gonna change a damn thing.
The scale was up 3 lbs this morning.
Is it fat? Absolutely not.
It’s water from the extra carbs and extra sodium.
Macros are going to be met today and weight will normalize back out in a couple of days.
Unless I ate 10,500 calories MORE than my maintenance calories, then I didn’t gain 3 lbs of fat. (1 lb = 3,500 calories)
So this year I hope you can relax, enjoy yourself, not fall into crazy diet restrictions, diet pills, or any other weight loss bs that the diet industry tries to sell you.
Sustainable, long term habits is what you need.
And this is the perfect year to start them.
Don’t let another year pass you by.
Start now. ♥️
