Miguel Cabrera, first baseman for the Detroit Tigers, was arrested Wednesday night in Florida for suspicion of DUI, having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle and resisting an officer.
Officers discovered Cabrera in his vehicle on the side of the road. Smoke was coming from under the hood and officers detected the smell of alcohol. The baseball star refused to submit to a breath test and resisted officers when they tried to put him in a police car.
Cabrera, 27, was booked at the St. Lucie County Jail around 12:20 a.m. he was released on bail Thursday morning.
