Manny Ramirez Arrested For Domestic Violence
Former baseball star Manny Ramirez spent Monday night in a Florida jail following an arrest for suspected domestic violence. The Broward County Sheriff’s office confirmed Ramirez, 39, was booked on one charge of touch and strike battery. He is accused of hitting his wife, Juliana, during a dispute at their home.
Juliana told police Ramirez slapped her across the face, causing her to hit her head on the headboard of their bed. She suffered swelling to the left side of her face and a contusion on her head. The police report noted that Juliana’s injuries are consistent with her story. Ramirez denied the allegations. He is set to appear before a magistrate on Tuesday.
Ramirez retired from Major League Baseball in April after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs. During his 19-year career, Ramirez hit 555 home runs and was chosen to play in 12 All Star Games.
