Controllable Pitch Propeller Market Summary

A controllable pitch propeller (CPP) is a special type of marine propulsion device. It is a propeller whose blades can be rotated to adjust the pitch using a control mechanism located in the propeller hub. This type of propeller is called a controllable pitch propeller or variable pitch propeller, abbreviated as CPP. Ships equipped with a CPP can achieve forward, reverse, speed changes, and stopping without changing the direction or speed of the propulsion shaft, using the device's remote control system.

A controllable pitch propeller (CPP) consists of five main components or systems: propeller blades, propeller hub mechanism, oil distributor, hydraulic system, and electronic remote control system. By operating the control lever in the wheelhouse, the electro-hydraulic servo control system, through the oil distribution mechanism, inputs high-pressure oil with controlled direction and flow rate into the servo cylinder located in the propeller hub. This drives the propeller blades through the blade rotation mechanism, allowing for stepless adjustment of the pitch angle within the full forward and full reverse range. For any given pitch angle, the propeller, driven by the main engine at a certain rotational speed, converts the absorbed torque into a force that propels the ship forward or pulls it backward.
