LeBron James 50% Less Popular
Heat Star's Popularity Dwindles
Miami Heat star LeBron James is 50% less popular than he was a year ago, according to the recently announced results of an annual ESPN phone poll.
According to the poll, James was chosen by 9% of respondents as their favorite NBA player in the month before James and the Cleveland Cavaliers were eliminated from last year's playoffs by the Boston Celtics.
His popularity dropped to 4.5%, however, as the oft-criticized Heat were finishing up their series against the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of this year's playoffs.
"We have about a month left of the hate," said James on Thursday, after he led the Heat to an amazing comeback victory over the Bulls in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals. "We'll see what happens next year."
