                                                                            PRINT ON CANVAS

WHAT KINDS OF CANVASES ARE USED?

Printable canvases come in natural, synthetic, and mixed. They all differ in the size of the "grain" and the type of coating for good ink absorption. Synthetic canvas is cheaper than natural canvas, but has disadvantages: it doesn't always render shades correctly and looks like oilcloth.

Natural cloth for printing can be based on cotton or linen fabric. It can be matte or glossy. For the manufacture of such materials natural threads are used, weaving which is very similar to the artist's canvas.

The ideal solution is a cotton canvas. This type of canvas is best suited for printing reproductions and paintings in the style of the royal family. It is as whitened as possible, so proper color reproduction can be achieved. In addition, cotton canvas has the texture of an artistic canvas.

PHOTO ON CANVAS PRINTING TECHNOLOGY

The plotter (printer) is the main tool for printing. All devices work on the same principle but differ in the perfection of the technology. The new generation plotters print in high resolution and transfer the image onto the canvas with maximum precision. When choosing a model, we were guided by two parameters:

The size of the nozzles (holes) through which the printer delivers ink to the surface of the material. The smaller the holes, the shallower the dot on the canvas, and the more accurate the image transfer.

Professional plotters for large format printing works at a resolution of 2880x1440 dpi - this allows for a very clear picture with smooth tonal transitions.

The number of basic ink cartridges. Older printers have only 4 inks that are mixed to produce different shades. But today's models use 9 or more cartridges - so the color reproduction is more accurate.

HOW WELL DO THE COLORS ON THE COMPUTER MATCH THOSE ON THE CANVAS?

If you just print the image on the printer, the result may not meet expectations. Often the colors on a picture are "swamped" in the cold or warm side, too dull or too bright, etc. To make the picture on the monitor match the picture on the canvas, you need to do some work.

Ordinary printers, engaged in printing, usually are not interested in the final result. Their task is to load the photo into the printer and wait for the printed image. But at

https://www.popartyou.com/, they do everything they can to make the pictures match as closely as possible. To do this, they use professional screen profiling of the monitor and the plotter. Pre-printing techniques are also important.

Often correcting an image for proper color reproduction is necessary, because some details can be improved and corrected before printing. This applies in particular to pictures with faces, because the human eye determines the realism of the skin tone. If the manager recommends a preliminary correction of the picture, do not refuse. Your monitor may be set differently and some colors will change when printed. Therefore, the designer will refine and stabilize the shades.

PHOTO REQUIREMENTS FOR PRINTING

A lot depends on the image, which is given for printing. If the picture is poor quality, fuzzy and with "flaws" - the picture will turn out correspondingly.

There are three fundamental points:

Resolution. The greater the size of the canvas, the greater the resolution should be.

Proportion. If the camera made the picture 3: 4 and you need the canvas 2: 3, the picture will inevitably be cropped. Therefore, the size of the picture should match the size of the future canvas.

File type. Usually, print studios accept all file formats. It is best to choose tiff or png as formats without loss of quality, but jpeg is also acceptable on canvas due to its texture.

As we wrote above, the image may also need color correction. When the picture is processed and printed, it remains to bring it into due form. Next, let's talk about the final touches of creating a photo picture.
