Ava Kopecky 14 got to enjoy her visit at the Disneyland Hotel last week and receive the prestigious Girl Scout Medal of Honor Award at a Ceremony there after she saved the life of a toddler whom she did not know.

The toddler, who is two and a half years old, fell into the water at Woodbridge North Lake in Irvine California closely to where Ava was playing with her friends. Ava was able to act quickly and get close enough to the boy for her to extend a large stick to which the boy could grab on to.

Vikki Shepp, CEO of Girl Scouts Orange County, presented the award to Ava and also said, “Girl Scouts are prepared to do heroic things. We are very proud of Ava’s exemplary actions, which reflected the Girl Scout Promise to help people at all times.”

The quick thinking done by Ava helped save a life and the mother of the child is surely grateful.
