A week after McDonald's pulled their fitness trackers from Happy Meals, a recall has been issued for the wristbands over the possibility of burns, blisters and skin irritation. McDonald's said it is "aggressively investigating this issue." The recall covers 29 million "Step-It" bands in the US and 3.6 million in Canada.

"Nothing is more important to us than the safety and well-being of our customers which is why upon learning about concerns with these bands we acted swiftly to stop distribution of these products. We apologize to our customers who were impacted and for the inconvenience this recall has caused," says a McDonald's spokesperson.

The company said customers can return the toys "to any McDonald's restaurant to receive a replacement Happy Meal toy and the choice of either a free yogurt tube or a free bag of sliced apples."
