Right Now

Coming from a background of disordered eating patterns and over-exercise I need the frequent reminder that I move my body because I love it not because I hate it. Part of honoring my body and it’s innate need/desire to move (especially during this quarantine!) is by doing so in a way that’s enjoyable to me. Anything else is a waste of time. The number one way I was able to get back into consistent exercise and actually stick with it was by focusing only on things I really wanted to do; things that would not only benefit me physically but mentally and emotionally as well. Rather than completely depleting me like exercise used to (and I thought was supposed to) it actually fills me up, gives me lasting energy, stabilizes my mood, improves my sleep, strengthens my mind-body connection, and deepens the appreciation I have for myself. My favorites are hot yoga, hiking, rebounding and (recently) running. They light me up!
