I know the whole “listen to your body” thing is something that we’re seeing a lot of these days which is great, but I know there’s so many of you out there who don’t quite know how to do that. •
Having someone say “just listen to your body” or “it communicates with you” or “it tells you what it needs” can be frustrating for some. Although I do believe these statements to be true and have said those exact statements many times before, I do recognize the way our individual bodies communicate is a language we have to learn to decipher, especially if it’s something we’ve ignored for so long. •
Similarly to learning a new language, if we don’t speak it, use it, and practice it every day, eventually we will forget and it won’t be so familiar anymore. And there’s nothing to be ashamed of—It’s not necessarily something many of us have been taught growing up, and in fact may have actually been taught the complete opposite. In other words, many of us have been taught to put the answers in the hands of someone else, like a doctor, health professional, influencer etc. (That’s an issue for another day lol) but my main point here is, for those that want to begin learning the language of their body and don’t know where to start, I recommend starting with just one very important thing: PAY ATTENTION. •
That’s all you need to do. Pay attention and take notice. You don’t need to over-analyze, decode, decipher anything right now. All you have to do is put up your antennas and pay attention/observe/notice. You can even keep a little journal if you want. Slowly, naturally, organically, you will start to make connections, notice patterns, have “aha” lightbulb moments and before you know it you will be fluent in your body’s language. It doesn’t have to be forced, complicated, frustrating or daunting. It just takes a little patience and again, your attention.
