On Sundays I spend about 30 minutes getting some food prepped. 30 minutes, that’s nothing! Yet it makes such a difference in my week. I wash and chop lettuce, slice an onion, roast about 5 sweet potatoes, pre-make salad dressing, steam potatoes, and lastly cut, wash and store my celery in a big bowl of water (to keep it fresh). The celery is for juicing and the steamed potatoes are great to have on hand in the fridge when short on time, and everything else is for quick salad making. That way in the morning I can throw everything in the bowl in about 2 minutes, then make celery juice and the heavy metal detox smoothie. Easy as can be. •
Sometimes too on Sunday’s I’ll make one or two recipes and eat it as leftovers to accompany my salad for dinner throughout the week which adds to that initial 30 minutes but it’s still a small effort that really pays off during those busy work days! I find if I don’t set apart this time to plan/prepare, my week is much more hectic. I don’t have as much time for things that are really important to me/make me a better human like yoga, meditation, puppy snuggles, long walks, time outside etc. and I’m much more likely to reach for nutrient-void snacks/food that don’t contribute to me feeling my best. When I’m eating well and making a point to practice self-care daily, I have more energy, I’m more productive, pleasant to be around, have more to give, feel happier throughout the day, sleep better, less anxious and frazzled, and overall just a better version of myself. What I’m getting at is, something as small as spending those extra 30min on Sunday prepping some food creates such a massive ripple effect on my week. This may look differently for you, but we all have areas of our lives we can give a bit more attention to that can therefor set us up for a little more structure and harmony in our day to day lives. Would love to hear what you guys do!
