9 things you should know about fat loss
1. You can eat healthy & still not lose fat.
The type of food matters for health, but you can still eat too many calories of the healthiest foods! Quantity matters.
2. Fat loss occurs in a calorie deficit.
Any diet that leads to fat loss is creating a calorie deficit. Burning more calories than being consumed. Doesn’t matter if it’s keto, intermittent fasting, carnivore diet, whatever it is, find what is sustainable for YOU.
3. Your daily habits define your long term success.
If you want to lose fat & keep it off FOREVER, this requires obtaining habits that lead to lifelong dedication to eating, training, & living in a way that leads to better health and being leaner.
4. Cardio isn’t required to lose fat.
That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it. But you don’t have to do hours of cardio. Most people over do it. Adhere to a strength training plan & add some walking. That should be plenty.
5. Weight loss & fat loss aren’t always the same.
We can lose body fat & the scale may not change much. We can lose weight & our bodies may not look much different. This is why strength training & adequate protein is important. & another reason why the scale should only be ONE tool to measure progress, not the only one.
6. Starvation mode doesn’t exist.
Metabolic adaptation can occur. But you aren’t holding on to body fat from under eating. It’s just harder to lose fat as calories get lower & as you get leaner. If you’re not losing on low calories, it’s probably a sign you’re not in a place to diet right now.
7. Bites, licks, & tastes add up fast.
Taking a bite of your kid’s meal you are cooking. Taking a handful of m&m’s. Just a couple sips of that wine. All those calories can quickly add up. Pay attention.
8. Fat loss takes time.
It’s MONTHS and YEARS. Not days and weeks. You can lose weight in days or weeks, but don’t expect to maintain those results.
9. The biggest transformation happens in your head.
Until you have the proper mindset when it comes to the fat loss process, it will always be a struggle. Work on your mindset, on loving your body through every stage, & don’t chase destination happiness!
