This is why I’m so passionate about sustainability.
Back in 2012, I didn’t know anything about nutrition or fat loss.
I was told to cut out carbs to lose weight.
At the time, Atkins was popular.
So I did it.
I lost 40 lbs. and felt great!
But it’s obviously not sustainable (especially for me) to eliminate carbs forever.
So what happened after the fact?
I gained 60+ lbs back.
Cutting carbs taught me nothing at all except to restrict a food group.
So there I was back at square one.
Frustrated. Feeling hopeless. Wondering what to do next.
I felt like I was never going to lose weight and be able to keep it off.
But what I’ve learned is the actual time spent losing weight is relatively short.
We spend more time maintaining our weight loss than we do actually losing weight.
So instead of focusing on the end results, it’s important to focus on the daily habits that will help us maintain effortlessly.
So that when you achieve your goal, you won’t be back at square one like I was.
From day 1, implement sustainable habits.
Nothing drastic, nothing extreme.
Those things will not last.
Trust me, I would know.
Don’t make the same mistake I did.
Slow down, take the time to learn, take the time to create the habits you can do forever.
Diets teach you what to do, but not why you’re doing it and that will lead to you being discouraged when things get tough.
Give yourself a realistic timeline.
It’s not a race, you have the rest of your life. 😎
Spend this whole year creating habits that you can sustain for a lifetime.
So not only will you lose weight, but you’ll keep it off 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳. 👏🏼
