True story.
I had gotten an email from a producer from a popular talk show.
They were showing interest in my weight loss story.
She asked if we could set up a phone call to have an interview.
Of course I said yes.
At the end of the call, I knew they weren’t going to use me.
“We will keep your information if we feel your story will be a good fit!”
How did I know they weren’t going to use me?
The questions she asked me were very “fad diet” like questions.
“What’s your favorite cheat meal?”
“What secret tips do you have?”
“What are your favorite food swaps?”
“What diet did you do to lose the weight?”
“What’s one takeaway tip people can do to start seeing results immediately?”
When I answered with things like “I don’t see foods as ‘cheating’ and there are no secrets, just a lot of hard work and consistency!”
I could tell she didn’t like my answers.
This is how the mainstream media works with fat loss.
“Lose 15 lbs in 10 days with this simple trick!”
Sound familiar? That’s because it’s click bait.
And I wasn’t going to give them what they wanted to hear, I gave them what they needed to hear.
But that didn’t fall into their narrative they were trying to push.
The one where you have to cut out carbs from your diet.
Or the one where you have to do hours of cardio everyday.
Or the one where if you eat a donut, you’ll automatically get fat.
Like I always say. A calorie deficit isn’t sexy.
It isn’t click bait.
But it is how to lose fat.
And I don’t care how many opportunities I “miss” by sharing that.
I will never, ever lie or give scammy direction to people for the sake of being on tv.
Would that have been cool?
Absolutely!
I would love to share with the world the truths about fat loss.
But that’s not what diet culture wants.
So here is your reminder that not everything is what it appears to be and don’t fall for the BS out there.
It’s for money and marketing.
Calorie deficit, consistency, and patience. ♥️
