1. PLAN AHEAD. This is the #1 piece of advice I give to my clients. If you know you’re going to go out to eat/go out with friends, LOG THE NIGHT BEFORE!
Look up the menu the night before and log the dinner/drinks you will be having. Then you know how much to have the rest of the day + your meal and/or drinks are already logged and fit into your macros for the day!
2. Make it a high day(s). I have some clients that have lower macro days during the week and slightly higher macro day(s) on the weekends.
This allows for a little more flexibility to enjoy your weekends without making it a free for all! There will still require planning and sacrifice, but it can definitely make things easier when you have more calories to work with!
3. Move your body! Whether that means hitting the gym as usual, or changing it up, don’t forget to move some!
This could be also be going for a bike ride with friends. It’s okay to suggest something different when planning with friends. It doesn’t always have to be food/drink related. Ride bikes, go for a walk, try a yoga class together!
4. Stick to your macros just ONE weekend. Show yourself that you’re able to do it. Yes, it’s hard at first to change things up.
By doing it one time, you’re proving to yourself that you can do hard things. The more you do it, the more it becomes a habit, the easier it gets!
5. Don’t restrict during the week!!!! If you don’t allow any “weekend foods” during the week, you’re asking for a blow out each weekend.
When we take away foods during the week, by the end of it, we are dying for it and craving it. It’s okay to have a slice or 2 of pizza during the week! You can incorporate ice cream for dessert on a Wednesday. The less we allow ourselves to have something, the more we want it.
I get it, the weekends can be tough. But I promise it’s possible with strategy and planning! You can enjoy meals you love, you can enjoy some drinks with friends and still hit your goals!
Plan ahead, be flexible, remember your goals, and execute.
You can do hard things!! 👏🏼
